the responsibility of freedom

May the coming Independence Day weekend find you thankful for your freedom and grateful for the family and friends you have to surround you- near and far.

To those whom much is given, much is expected.

If you are reading this- you have much, you have more than most of the world.

What is expected of you?  That is a question we each have to find for ourselves.

A couple of posts have gripped my heart the past couple of weeks.  May they stir something inside of you this long weekend.

Dear North American Church, Because it Is Time

When a Father Loves His Daughters

And this video makes me uncomfortable and calls me to action every time.

I challenge you to find something that breaks your heart and then, because of your gift of freedom, do something about it.  Big or small- make an impact.

I am joining with Compassion International as a Compassion Blogger.  Once or twice a month I will join with other bloggers to bring awareness to  impoverished children around the world.  As a family, we have sponsored a beautiful girl from India for years and find she has blessed us in many ways through her prayers and letters.  I am honored to join with Compassion even in this small way.

Freedom is a gift AND a responsibility.

Have a blessed Independence Day, my friends.

*If you are interested in learning more about sponsoring a child through Compassion, scroll down my side bar to the right and click on the Compassion link.  $38 per month will provide for, not only a child, but a family and a community as well.  Note, I receive no compensation – this is a cause I believe in and fully support.
