Five Minute Friday: Belong

We were created for community.  We were never meant to be alone.   And deep down, even when we want to run away from the world, we need to belong.

It is so much easier to shut out the world than to engage.  I speak only what I know.  It’s easier to not even get involved – relationships are messy.  Sometimes the mess makes me want to scream and I simply close the door.  It feels too hard.

Even through the hurt we still want to belong.  We want someone to understand- someone who gets us.  Someone to tell us that we’re not crazy.  Someone who sees through our hard outer shell to the person we really are underneath.

I pray for all of us that kind of community.  The kind of community that doesn’t necessarily agree on everything or have it all together, but a community that is authentic and real.  A community where you don’t have to do life alone.  A community to simply belong.
